Pays des vallons de Vilaine launch a soft mobility study
Posted by: Cahors City - Date: 18th November 2011

Seven employees received a cycling training session 22nd September 2011 in the urban area of Cahors using electric bikes. This training aims to ensure that cyclists are safe and feel confident cycling in an urban environment, and it makes them aware of the proper management of this new equipment.

The session was conducted in two parts. The morning session focused on theory, advising participants on behavior to follow when cycling and behavior to avoid. In the afternoon the participants went a cycle tour in the urban area to test what had been seen in the morning.

Electric bikes require training in their use as well as their maintenance (batteries). In order to prevent the batteries from discharging too quickly, users must continue to pedal instead of using the bike purely as a ‘moped’.

The group of the employees was delighted by this training, and during the practical session of the training, Cahors city employees particularly enjoyed the positive interaction with the public.
